Frequently Asked Questions About Divorce in NJ

Question: On what grounds can I get a divorce in New Jersey?

Question: Can I get a no fault divorce?

Yes.  After 6 months of irreconcilable differences.

Question: Shouldn't I get the same outcome as my best friend who got divorced?

No one can really answer that question. Every family situation is different. For example, if your best friend was recently divorced and she was able to remain in the marital home with her young children while her husband continued to pay the mortgage, this does not mean you can expect the same outcome. Perhaps you have a relatively high income, but your husband does not--then you might have to pay the mortgage yourself. Many of these concepts are based on common sense.
